Debbie Tea is a Jakarta-based illustrator who has an obsession with objects, abstraction, and the mundane. Her crisp lines and plump figures make her works feel like a comfy friend. She also has a soft spot for nostalgia and spends her free time sleeping or playing JRPGs.

Art Inspiration: The female investor figure in my artwork is inspired by a female friend of mine who is a fearless seasoned investor who dabbles in the stock market as well as the crypto market. To me, she is the epitome of a modern-day investor that is not only book-smart but also street-smart. She knows what she’s doing and knows how to achieve her goal, all while staying true to herself.

Juana is a Colombian graphic designer. Her biggest passion is illustration, which is a catharsis, the transformation of sensations, colors, and dreams. It is a bridge between spirit and paper — like pure magic, turning an empty, white space into something full of life. Juana’s biggest inspiration is nature, mystique, and the unseen world.

Art Inspiration: A female investor is a woman who is connected with her inner strength, her feminine energy, and her power to change the circumstances around her. She knows her roots and is proud of them; she wants those roots to be the motor and inspiration for her life choices. She embraces change and technology but also has a deep connection with ancient rituals and traditions. She is magical in every way.

Tasmin Nadoo is a South African artist, illustrator, and comic book creator. currently living and working in Cape Town. By day she is an apparel graphic artist, and by night she makes comics and NFTs. Her work is informed by old-school science fiction and cosmic horror books, comics, and absurdism.

Art Inspiration: The inspiration behind this particular piece was drawn from my country of origin, South Africa, which is an extraordinarily beautiful place. However, our history is entrenched in trauma that stemmed from colonialism, the reverberations of which we still feel today. As a WOC living and working in South Africa, I have decided to rewrite my narrative. My narrative is one of strength, creativity, courage, and empowerment.

Aoife

Aoife (pronounced ee-fah) is a UX/UI designer and illustrator based in Ireland. She makes work that tries to imagine what might exist outside what the human brain can perceive. She loves drawing bright, whimsical, weird cuties, critter, and femmes…often all simultaneously. Queer fat femme, she/her pronouns.

Art Inspiration: I wanted to show an investor whom I can relate and aspire to. She is confident, she is creative, she is bold, she is intelligent, she is fat and she is beautiful. Challenging the societal stereotypes of how smart, hard-working, and capable fat women truly can be and how professional “should” look. Comfortable in her skin, her femininity, and her decisions - she’s soft and savvy.

Web developer by day and artist by night in Australia. Houdakyi loves cute stuff and creating it too. She picks up new interests every few months, most recently pottery, crochet, knitting, nail art, and now NFTs. She particularly likes to create whimsical artwork with cute girls wearing cool fashion, delicious food, and kitschy subjects, sometimes with a darker or deeper meaning.

Art Inspiration: I believe the female investor doesn’t necessarily have to exude the typical girl boss vibes as we often see portrayed in the media. In my interpretation, she is an artist who loves to express her creativity through a variety of mediums and has an adoration for all things cute. She sells artwork as NFTs, and is also able to curate her own gallery by investing in fellow artists.

Her work has been exhibited in many countries. Her clients include Selina, PepsiCo, Claro, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Adidas, VisaNet, Lady Speed Stick, and more.

Art Inspiration: Guatemala is called the "Land of Eternal Spring" so I want to represent a female investor surrounded by many magical flowers. The characteristics of a Guatemalan female investor are represented by the color of her eyes, hair, and skin. Also, the blouse is an abstraction of typical Guatemalan clothing. She is a powerful Guatemalan magical woman.

About the Project

Women in VC was founded in NYC in 2015 with the goal of bringing women investors from around the world together to connect, collaborate, and create a sense of belonging in the male-dominated venture capital community. In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the milestone of 4,000 members across 65 countries by partnering with Crypto Lady Gang, a global community for women NFT artists, to redefine what it looks like to be an investor. Our research shows only 4.9% of venture capital partners are women. This lack of diversity trickles down to the founders, the products they build, and the customers they serve, creating the wide disparity we see today: in 2021, only 2.1% of venture dollars went to women-led companies. By changing the face of people controlling the capital, we can create a tech community that is more inclusive.

This project is about more than celebrating diversity in the tech community. Each artwork depicts a strong woman holding their respective country’s currency. We are elevating the importance of financial literacy for women around the world, and striving to empower more women to take control of their relationship with money. We believe understanding money breeds confidence that can unlock new opportunities for economic equality, optionality, and independence. We are proud that each of our incredible artists in our collection will receive a percentage of proceeds to support their creative journey.

As voted on by our global community, a portion of our proceeds will be donated to nonprofits that support confidence, financial education, and literacy for women.
